King of LA’s pro team Pete Carroll is gone. Who are the best bets to replace him?
1. Mike Riley: Has USC connections, pro HC experience and is a successful PAC 10 coach. The best candidate.
2. Steve Sarkisian: Has all that Reilly does save pro experience. An LA native, the young former BYU QB could have this job for a log time.
3. Steve Fisher: The long tenured Titans coach would be a great choice. Does he want to leave the pros and return to LA?
4. Jack Del Rio: He may jump at the opportunity given the tenuous state of the Jaguars. Just don’t have a gut feel that he’d be the right pick
5. John Robinson: C’mon, he’s already had the job twice before! OK, that was a joke.
This certainly is big hire for Troy. The biggest drawback of the position is potential NCAA sanctions re Reggie Bush affair. That might be enough to keep Riley in Corvallis.
That said, could Sarkisian and Rick Neuhesiel wage the battle of LA?
OSU offered Riley a lifetime contract. Advantage rest of the field??????
